Precious Day

Precious Day, 8 x 10, oil on panel, L. Daniel © 2021
NFS

There are some days we wish could last forever. This past Saturday would be one of those. Two dear artist friends invited our painting group to paint at their lakeside home, and to help them close up their art studio before they move away. It was a wonderful time... a celebration of who they are and their creativity in that magical place, a reunion of new and old friends, a passing of the torch as supplies were entrusted into new hands, and a last painting hurrah!

What an honor to be included in this bittersweet farewell! Precious day, and precious heart memories. Thank you, Charles and Carole - Love you both!

Happy, happy!

(Many thanks to Laura Barrow for photos!)

One of many gorgeous views of Lake Travis and "Sometimes Island".
(Sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not. Depends on the rain.)

HURRICANE HARVEY FUNDRAISER
FOR THE ROCKPORT CENTER FOR THE ARTS

On August 25th, Hurricane Harvey came ashore over the coastal town of Rockport. This thriving art community suffered a great loss when their Rockport Center for the Arts was devastated by high winds and rain. In response, Plein Air Austin reached out to Texas artists who have generously donated unframed artwork to raise $10,000 to help our neighbors rebuild. Each painting is $100 and 100% of your purchase will go directly to the center. Purchasers will receive a tax deductible receipt.

View all donated paintings HERE... take home some treasures as you lend a hand!

But friends, a picture is worth thousand words...
The Rockport Center for the Arts BEFORE Hurricane Harvey...
 ... and AFTER...
Please join us as we help our friends on the coast...
And many thanks to Robin Cheers for her incredible organization of this event!

Water Lily Patch

Water Lily Patch, L. Daniel, 12 x 12
.
This painting is from another recent Plein Air Austin outing. We painted at Zilker Gardens, a beautiful botanical garden right here in our own backyard. This variety of water lilies always stops me in my tracks. The leaves reach up to the light, just like the lotus blossoms. They have such a dynamic quality!!!
