Hyde Park Bridge
On Saturday morning Plein Air Austin met to paint and several of us were captivated by this quaint, little bridge. There wasn't much traffic crossing over, so the whole place felt very quiet and secluded. The slow running creek below the bridge added to the peacefulness of the morning, but it is also evidence of our rain deprivation here in central Texas. The banks where I set up my easel are usually covered with water.

Perseverance
Gray Day, Blue Awning, 12 x 12In spite of the increasing threat of rain yesterday (thanks to Hurricane Dolly on the coast) a few hardy souls gathered for our Thursday paint out at the Elisabet Ney Sculpture Museum grounds. Three times we closed up our paintboxes and ran for cover as showers blew through. Our reward for not giving up was a moment of sunlight and some small patches of blue sky before the big rains came later in the day.
