Pine Groves, 9 x 12, L. DanielA light mist over this small pond separated the components of the landscape into very distinct layers. The pine grove in the foreground emerged with its whimsical trunks and interesting shapes - it was very fun to paint!! (Meanwhile, a couple of alligators live in this pond, and one of them watched us the whole time we were there. We kept a healthy distance to say the least!)

You are a brave soul to paint where alligators are watching! It is a beautiful and serene setting. The trees are gorgeous and such interesting shapes in their trunks. Your colors are soft - it's a peaceful painting.
There's a delicacy about this painting that I really enjoy, from the tree trunks down to the gentle lines in the water. Bar the threat of aligators, it's a very relaxing piece ;)

Plein air plus 'gators sounds very exciting! This is a lovely, dreamy piece. I could look at it all day.
I love the use of green in this painting. Especially the blue green near the surface of the water. It lends itself to such a relaxing composition.
