On Saturday I did the painting above in a live demonstration at Anderson Fine Art Gallery, my gallery here on St. Simons Island. I worked from the plein air study below, sharing my overall thinking about color, composition and process. My audience was encouraging and many of the folks were painters themselves. I really enjoyed their thoughtful questions and input (thanks to all of you who came!!!) .

Nicely done Laurel. You have such a good command of color.

Looks like you are having one amazing adventure. This is a lovely painting - good demo-ing!! Also love the original study. Gorgeous work, inspiring gallery events.... We miss you but know you are having a wonderful time.
You, and your painting, look great!
Great job, Laurel. I can't imagine those at the demo being anything but encouraging. Beautiful work, as usual.
Wish I could have been there but thank goodness for the internet we get to share in it a wee bit! I love the paintings you're doing there.
You are really kicking it. Laurel. This is a beautiful series.
