Upper Falls
Upper Falls, 12 x 12 We are having a bit of a drought here in Texas so the falls at McKinney Falls State Park are pretty small right now. At the upper falls, this little tributary spills into that wonderful swimming hole I was talking. I would like to see this place when the water is raging. It will happen - it will eventually rain here... a lot. And then we have flooding.

Beautiful reflections!
love the high horizon line and the gorgeous color/brushwork...I am so inspired by your work.
Really nice, Laurel. I love the way the sky is peeking through in the reflections.
The reflections are amazing. Such a peaceful painting.
Being a watercolorist, I really enjoy seeing oil paintings done by painters that know how to handle
the medium. Wonderful energy and great brush work.
These are all beautiful paintings.
This state park seems like it has a wealth of great spots! I love in this one the warm/cool contrasts between the water/foliage/rocks. That and the directional changes in your brushwork as you paint different objects and places really capture me. Love it.
Hi Laurel,
I stared at this one for a while, thinking I wish I could watch you paint. Your swift decisive dashes of light, your spots of colour in the exact right place. Wow. another beauty.
XOXOBarbara
Great reflections.
You have such a wonderful sense of color... Your paintings always just draw me in.
nice crop on the scene laurel. the different directions in the strokes make this simple painting a beauty!
Hi Laurel,
I saw the thumbnail of this on Karen Phipp's blog and just had to come take a closer look.
This is a beautiful painting. Love the reflections and the colors. Great work.
I like how we don't see the actual sky but we know it is a sunny day by how nice and bright the reflections are. Well done.

Amazing composition, and of course your signature brushstrokes make the painting!
I can't get over how fluid the water is. You just want to dip your toes in it. Another great painting!
Love the falls Laurel.
Thank you all for your kind remarks!!! It's a beautiful place and I wish I could take you all there! :)
I love how you portrayed the still water. Brave and spot on! I love this blog!
