Shady Path

Shady Path, 8 x 6, SOLD

This weekend was a full one - I taught a plein air workshop here in Austin and had a fabulous time watching my students create wonderful paintings. It is so satisfying! It also always gives me the itch to smear some paint myself, so today I went back to one of our sites to paint this captivating tunnel of trees.

ALSO - many thanks to Katherine Tyrell for featuring my International Artist Magazine award on her March 29th blogpost on Making a Mark. Thank you for your support, Katherine!!

Laurel,

This is so fantastic. Another super painting. I love the colour, the light and the gorgeous design. Wonderful. I contrast it with my walk today through trees still wearing their bare branches, and surviving icy cold temperatures.

Laurel, I imagine that you must be a wonderful teacher and a very giving one at that. Glad you returned to this spot. I love the way you put the sky 'back into' the trees, that is sometimes tough to make work. I had to enlarge your image to take a closer look! :)

Thank you all...
In answer to Jala's comment - First, Jala, thank you, but I was going to ask YOU that question! And second, I have plenty of paintings in my repertoire that will never see the light of day if they haven't been scraped or wiped already! ;)

I have really enjoyed seeing your work. Your brushstrokes are wonderful, and you capture a great sense of light in your paintings. I look forward to seeing more.
