Towering Palm

Towering Palm, 8 x 6, SOLD

This is my demo piece from my plein air class that started this morning. I must confess, however, that I did it in the studio from a photograph. Boo, Hiss, I know. The weather forecast included big winds and thunderstorms, which still haven't come. Now we have tornado and flash flood warnings to boot. We need the rain, so batten down the hatches...

I'd give anything for thunderstorms! And painting palm trees outdoors. At least it's nice to see your flowers and leafy trees to give me hope.

I think it is lovely and I never apologize for painting in the studio!

Hi Laurel,

I just love how you paint, and most of
my paintings are studio paintings. This is wonderful. May all the storms pass you by.

Lovely colors.

We haven't had precipitation here in Boulder, CO in about 2 months. It's a little worrisome...

Boo! (just kidding!) :)
One thing I was admiring in this way the way you painted the masses of the palms, not the leaves (fronds?) themselves. I was just painting in Florida last week (will post these soon) and was struggling with that.
