The Plein Air Austin painting weekend was a great time. I travelled to Granbury with my good buddies Julie Davis and Lyn Cohagan; all of us determined to paint on our way. Well, it was a little like Mr. Toad's Wild Ride! We veered off the main road numerous times - stopping, starting, u-turning - all in search of possible painting sites. Julie was a good sport with the map in her lap at all times and Lyn never missed a turn as we caravanned our way. We finally ended up at this field in the little town of Briggs, Texas. Such good times!
Sounds like you had a lot of fun. It is amazing how many art bloggers there are in Austin, Texas: must be something in the water. This tree is like a little bit of magic from a Dickensian novel, must be that fence that does it and the colours. r.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you all had a ball!!
ReplyDeleteGood for you!! Glad you didn't end up like Toad did...
Hi Laurel,
ReplyDeleteYour painting certainly tells a joyous story. Love it.
Great light, and lyrical brushwork.
XOXOXOBarbara
You guys sound just like us when we go out to paint...so hard to settle down! You found a great spot, and in this painting I love that the atmosphere up around the tree feels thicker, truly like air, and the flowers/grass below have a greater sparkle to them, more clear. really fascinating.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Laurel, as usual. You make it look so easy. Looks and sounds like you had a great weekend.

ReplyDeleteLove the sky color here and also the fence (perfect amount of suggestion plus telling), along with all the rest of it of course.
