Old Granary

Old Granary, L. Daniel, 8 x 6, SOLD

I spotted this old granary on a drive through Fredericksburg, and was instantly drawn its simple shapes and neutral colors. I was especially stunned by the warm afternoon light as it reflected off the adobe walls and tin roof.

  1. I love how you managed to keep the 'warm' even in the shadow side of the building. You are so great at values... this is a very cool painting!

  6. I love the light on this one too. That building color is fantastic too! I need to work more on getting just part of a building in a painting. It makes for a much more interesting composition that me trying to cram the whole thing on there. This is inspiring!

  7. I love the one little warm shot of orange on the back of the building! This took me right back to the day I drove up, I was so struck by the care people took with their places.
