Congress Avenue

Congress Avenue, L. Daniel, 8 x 10, graphite

If I am downtown with a sketchpad, I inevitably end up finding an angle of our beautiful state capitol. Congress Avenue leads straight up to the big front lawn and it's always a striking sight to look up and see the many layered building.

  6. Laurel, I'm loving these wonderful sketches, something I've just been doing myself.
A beautifully done sketch has a magic that nothing else does.

  7. I'm seeing this now as it was in the 40's - it was hung all the way from the bridge with strings of just plain colored lights. No tinsel or anything. Remarkable and magical to a little child! I like your drawing, as it captures that scene with simplicity, and catches at my heartstrings.
