Congress Avenue, L. Daniel, 8 x 10, graphite
If I am downtown with a sketchpad, I inevitably end up finding an angle of our beautiful state capitol. Congress Avenue leads straight up to the big front lawn and it's always a striking sight to look up and see the many layered building.
LOVE this! I love the quick, sure way you captured that view. Thanks, Laurel!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful drawings. There's an amazing peaceful, yet active quality to your strokes.

The sketches are lovely! You remind me to take out my pencil mroe!
ReplyDeleteLove this also! Wonderful, confident rendering of a great composition.
ReplyDeleteLaurel, I'm loving these wonderful sketches, something I've just been doing myself.
ReplyDeleteA beautifully done sketch has a magic that nothing else does.
I'm seeing this now as it was in the 40's - it was hung all the way from the bridge with strings of just plain colored lights. No tinsel or anything. Remarkable and magical to a little child! I like your drawing, as it captures that scene with simplicity, and catches at my heartstrings.
