Fishing Creek

Fishing Creek, 12 x 16, L. Daniel

When my husband was a little boy, his father took him fishing in this creek which was right down the street from the family beach house. Years later, Bill took our children fishing there too. Kids still throw in their lines at this spot and seeing them always brings a smile to my face... life continues on...

Our old beach house no longer exists, but the one I am staying in very similar and is right down the street. In January of 2009, I did a painting of it for my son. Click here to see it. I loved that old place and still miss it.

  1. Both paintings evoke good memories for your family. Makes them extra special I like both paintings, too, of course for different reasons. Just beautifully painted!

  2. What a beautiful painting of a gorgeous place! I rmembered the Rawson connection when I saw the cabin painting,it is Doug's Rawson Lake.
We have to make that same difficult decision this summer about our cabin and not looking forward to it.

  3. Beautiful painting, the colours are muted yet strong. I really like the composition and the colour hues in your painting. There is also an atmosphere of quiet as if the location was very remote.

  4. It's such a calm painting so that you want to sit down yourself to enjoy the scenery. I like who you put the big white cloud into the water, even it is just a spot O:-)

  7. Laurel, this IS an exquisite gem of a painting! You captured such a wonderful feeling. The painting is subtle where it needs to be, and bold where it needs to be. Fantastic shapes and flow. Bravo!
