Drama Unfolds
These silhouetted trees against the wildly marbled sky were so dramatic, the scene stopped me in my tracks. Inspired by my trip to the Davis Mountains in February, I made this study and several others immediately upon return in preparation for a series of larger pieces. This is the second in that series, and I will post the larger version of this study tomorrow.

Salon International Show Pictures & Update:
I spent the weekend participating in all the events that went with the Salon International Show at the Greenhouse Gallery in San Antonio. It started with an awards banquet on Friday night, continued with individual critiques with the show's judge Everett Raymond Kinsler, a great marketing lecture by Eric Rhoads - Publisher of Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine, and ended with a big reception on Saturday night. It was a very inspiring time!
Everett Raymond Kinsler - This great American portrait painter has painted over 1200 portraits, including 6 presidents and many well-known personalities. He was generous and entertaining with his stories and ideas; and it was a great privilege for me to meet him!
Laurel....came to your blog via Marian's....and I am just loving your work. Look forward to following.
ReplyDeleteAmazing clouds! Congratulations--wish I could have been there this weekend.
ReplyDeleteYou should be grinning! And, I'm sure you'll be there next year!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous small painting, Laurie - I can't wait to see the next version.
ReplyDeleteSo exciting! You know I am a huge fan and so excited for you! You deserve all the recognition you receive!
ReplyDeleteLaurel, this little study is beautiful--went to snag it and it was "sold out!" I'm so glad you had a wonderful time--now that they figured out what they were missing!
ReplyDeleteLaurel, saw your wonderful entries at this past weekend's show in Dallas. Now realize that you were in San Antonio, but you were missed at Southwest Galleries. It was a great show and as always, your paintings were a feast for the eyes! Congratulations on being in both shows.
ReplyDeleteWow! Love your study!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your wonderful weekend. Sounded like an inspiring and wonderful time!
You look Mah-velous and so happy!
ReplyDeleteYour paintings are fabulous, always. You have a way with skies!
First, this is a stunning piece. Absolutely perfect, and of course, already sold.
ReplyDeleteSecond, congratulations on your great weekend. I'm sure you will be there next year.
Third, I'm so sorry I had to miss the opening. I intended as late as the end of our paintout Saturday to attend, but family matters along with a degree of fatigue entered in to force a change of plans. I was thinking of you, though, in any case. Congratulations, again.
I too was disappointed to see that this was already taken. It is absolutely stunning! Thoroughly enjoyed the show at Greenhouse House on Saturday, your painting in particular! Congrats on all of your well deserved success!
ReplyDeleteWow! This painting is breathtaking! I would love to see the larger painting done from this study.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, it sounds like a great weekend.
