Drama Unfolds (enlarged)

Drama Unfolds (enlarged), 18 x 18, L. Daniel

This larger version of Drama Unfolds was satisfying to paint because I had more room to explore the color and edges. I loved the way the light came through the bending tree branches as the day was ending; the strong contrasts and fringey glow were irresistible.

  1. This is phenomenal for all the things you mentioned. I also am blown away by the quality of the dimly lit foreground and the variety of subtle color you masterfully brought in among the rocks and cactus. Spectacular.

  3. When I glanced at my daily paintworks morning email, the thumbnail of this one just jumped right out and grabbed both of my eyes! This painting is stunning, both for its drama and the simplicity with which you handled it. (looks simple, I realize I may have been a challenge to get it to look easy!)

Congratulations on all of your successful show entries. More exposure! More parties!

  6. Very dramatic indeed. What a wonderful painting.

What I think is nice about your work each painting seems to have a togetherness about it. A kind of everything comes together, no drastic changes that look odd. I guess each painting the way there painted has a style that flows through the whole painting. I'm having a hard time describing it but I think its the brushwork, the colors, the values all come together making the painting match, like the sky matches the landscape, the tree matches the land the land mathces the sky, etc. It all comes together which is what I like about it.

And the greeny tones behind the cloud are masterful too.
