Greeting the Morning, 9 x 12
Another Granbury painting - On Saturday morning, a few of us got up early to catch the first light. We had to paint extra fast, because the light really changes fast at that time (plus there was that hot breakfast waiting at our B&B.) These tall pines seemed to be greeting the new day as much as we were!
ALSO, I want to thank a blogging friend of mine, Jane Hunt, for giving me the Kreativ Blogger award!!! It is a real honor to recieve this, especially from another artist. She is a wonderful painter and I would love for you all to go straight to her blog and check out her work!
Another beautiful piece - sounds like a perfect morning! Thanks so much for the shout out and the link:)
ReplyDeleteNice one. Kind of a yoga Sun Salute by the trees.
ReplyDeleteNot only is the quality of light here, but the sense of 'morning' is enhanced by that shimmery-ness in the trees. I love that.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful...very poetic. Love the colors, too.
ReplyDeleteHi Laurel,
ReplyDeleteThis is so fine. I am constantly dazzled by your joyous expression, consummate skill, and incredibly wonderful colour.
XOXOXBarbara
I've stumbled upon your work previously and am happy to find you again through Jill Berry. Your work is lovely.
ReplyDeleteSoftly majestic. Very evocative. It has me singing Dan Fogelberg's "To the Morning."
ReplyDeleteI've been following your weekend trip for the last few days and wishing I could be in your suitcase. Beautiful shimmery sunshine! Apparently we're to cover our tomatoes tonight! Congrats on the blogger award!
ReplyDeleteEarly morning light, you've got it cold.
ReplyDeleteFirst birds are starting to wake and that
cool quiet time just before full sun up.
Great job Laurel.
Another beautiful atmospheric painting. The wonderful combinations of yellows pinks and oranges is so different from the deep green that pervades our landscape at this time of year. When I look at your work, I can "feel" Texas.
ReplyDeleteI love the light and freshness of this piece.
ReplyDeleteHow long did it take you to paint it??
(translation... How fast ARE you???)
I'd love to be able to capture a scene like this but my painting speed is more snail-like.
This is so wonderful. I think I hear Dan Fogelberg, too! (glad to hear someone else remembers him :)
ReplyDeleteLove the softness of the sky.
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your comments... it's always great to hear from you. Marian asks - how long did it take? That painting is 9x12 and I spent about 1.5 hours. But you need to know - sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. The very next morning was not so successful - I started over twice and after 2 hours I completely scraped. That's why I try to paint outside A LOT... to stay loose, observant, and in the flow.
