Coast Guard Lookout

Coast Guard Lookout, L. Daniel, 12 x 12

St. Simons Island has a wonderful, historic Coast Guard station that sits overlooking the ocean. It was built in 1936 and after many years of service was refurbished into a maritime museum. Sitting right next to the main public beach, it is also a major landmark for meeting up and the location of much summer fun. :)

I have some other fun news... yesterday, I had a visit from a blog friend, Kathy Cousart! She was traveling through the area with her husband and they stopped by to see us. This was the first time we ever met in person (though we have exchanged many a communication through email and our blogs). It was pure delight! We visited, talked plenty of "art" and instantly felt like old, old friends. It's a wonderful, small world. Thanks for visiting, Kathy!!!

Love the painting, and just met a blog friend myself today. Isn't it amazing how close the bond is. I know what you mean. One day that will be us, and I can't wait to meet you too. The two of you look so happy. It's lovely to see.

XOXOXOXOXOXBarbara

Don't you just love meeting up with other artists? You already have so much in common. Your painting is lovely. I feel like I've been there, but no. It must be one of those timeless places...

Love this painting of the coast guard station and seeing it in person was such a treat as was meeting you! Your architectural pieces are beautiful too. Love the colors of the station set against that gorgeous SSI sky. Sweet!
What a treat to meet and get to visit and I will treasure that. Thanks for having us over. Dave loved you and Bill also:) Will work on husband photography skills for next time! Take care.
