Sundown on the Lake, L. Daniel, 9 x 12
November skies in Austin are so incredible... last night Plein Air Austin met to paint the sunset over Lake Travis. This has become an annual event for us and last night was no disappointment. The sky was extra dramatic because of a large cloud coverage. In the last 20 minutes before the sun disappeared the sky changed about 5 times, and each new color was more stunning than the last. It was like watching fireworks, audible "oohs" and "ahs" rang out as we painted fast and furiously!

Aren't we lucky to see such beauty!!
Impressive colour and light, so beautiful!
Laurel, this is just gorgeous. My favorite part? The reflective surface of the water!
I'd love to meet that group that you paint with. Sounds like you all have a grand old time! Gorgeous painting!
Stunning!! I just want to be there! Sunsets lately have been "incroyable."
This is so beautiful Laurel,
I love the pink light. Sometimes I wonder if we get the same light on the same day, at totally different times. Looking at your work makes me feel connected to the world in a wonderful way.
XOXOXOXOXOXOBarbara
I love watching this from my large bedroom window - very rapid changes as the sun sets, and gorgeous color in Austin. You should see it in west Texas!! More orange and red due to dust in the air - and no trees to obscure the view. It's enchanting.
