Night Sky over the Pier

Night Sky over the Pier, L. Daniel, 18 x 18
.
On St. Simons Island in Georgia, everyone goes to the Pier at night... on a walk, on a date, to fish, to eat ice cream, to see friends... on July 4th, to see fireworks. In the summer, there is usually a nice cool breeze off the ocean, which feels pretty great. This is the larger piece done after the small study I posted yesterday.

Great colors! Love the sky and the punched warm in the foreground. Especially those juicy strokes on the roof line...

Beautiful...

You've intensified the depth of the colors and made the small study... so much richer.

Well done, Laurel!!

How interesting to compare your study with the 18x18! I see what Marian says, it is related but there's more of everthing. Lovely.

fabulous. You've really grabbed the nocturnal feeling with a convincing display of color and value. I can feel the night air.

Ohhh, these paintings of the pier are wonderful. That sky! I don't know how you paint at night, I am dying to try it one of these days. I think it must be very difficult but of course you have made it look easy with these paintings.
I've been away for 2 weeks so it's fun to get back to your blog and see what I've missed. The trucks are wonderful too, sounds like a fun day, wish I had been there!
