Rock Island - Adirondack Trip

Rock Island, L. Daniel, 12 x 12

I just returned from a fabulous week of painting at the Publisher's Invitational in the Adirondack Mountains. It was a wonderful gathering of over 80 like-minded plein air painters from all over the US (and one person from Russia)... brought together by Eric Rhoads, publisher of Plein Air Magazine. We had a bit of rain and overcast skies, but it didn't deter any of us. We painted every hill and dale, creek and waterfall we could find. In the evenings we shared stories and inspirations - an incredible time all the way around!!!!

  8. Laurel,
Your plein air work has such wonderful looseness and spontaneity. I love it, specially your trees, they are true characters in your compositions.
I live in New York, near Manhattan, and would LOVE to hear if you are ever showing, or teaching nearby.
Thanks again for making the world more beautiful!

  10. one of my favorites of this series in which you've captured the mood and scenery of the place.
We camped in the Adirondacks, as a family, when I was kid. Actually we camped all over New York State from border to border. Finger Lakes, Salamanca State Park, Lake Ontario and Niagra Falls. It was THE WAY to take a family of 5-6 kids and a couple of dogs on vacation.
I didn't fully appreciate (at the time)how intrepid my parents were!
