Today was an unbelievably gorgeous day - clear, blue sky and fall color on display everywhere. I was fortunate to pull off a spontaneous painting day with my painting buddy, Julie Davis (she claims I highjacked her day, but what better excuse for playing hooky?) ;) The trees have been turning at this oft-driven-by-location for the last week or so, but you never know how long it will last. One big wind and it will all be gone... I'm happy we got down there!
I love it when my days get hijacked by painting! I love the bridge and the rocks in this one...great foils to the tree. I think the more I look at your pieces the more I understand why they're so successful...you really do paint big abstract shapes across the canvas and not things. Do you consciously think of this when you set out to start?
You so did hijack it--but there is no way I could say no to you! This is gorgeous--you completely nailed the color....
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous painting! I love how the tree is completely lush and full. To me it shows the abundance of autumn!
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love these special days. Perfect for creating gorgeous works like you have done again! Love it!
ReplyDeleteHi Laurel,
ReplyDeleteThis is magnificent. We are so close to the end of autumn here that it's inspiring to see a reminder of how it looked at the height of its glory.
Gorgeous as always.
XOXOXOXOBarbara
Wow... Lucky both of you... This day and this scene and the way you were able to capture it were amazing!!
ReplyDeleteDon't you love the little gifts left for us that we can find if we only take the time to LOOK!!??
Gorgeous job, Laurel.
