My second painting on Long Island gave me huge problems (the light, so beautiful - so tricky.) After fighting with it for two hours I completely scraped it, which can be so very unnerving. My remedy was to find something really comfortable and just take it easy - play. (I highly recommend this.) This field offered me the familiarity I needed to settle back down and cut through the fear.

ReplyDeleteI think the main thing is to keep painting. Isn't it crazy that we get scared, and we're doing this task for ourselves? I know someone else will buy it, but still. You can paint any light with ease, but may not know how fantastic you are.

ReplyDeleteYes, I recognize that well, the fight, then the scrape. So true, what you said, that it can be unnerving! And I also agree that it's a great remedy to find something comfortable when in that place...that's reassuring!
