Last weekend I went to the Canyon of the Eagles Park for a women's retreat with my church. I had heard it was a beautiful drive out there and a great location, so I packed my bags with easel and brushes, and painted my way there. A new road always offers up unplanned gifts; and spontaneous stops are so much fun.
Thanks everyone! Rahina, I did make it to my destination after only a couple of long stops. But that is what leaving early is for! This painting took about 2 hours.
I love the ghost edge on the painting in the background. What a great idea to go early and get a painting in on the way! The Indian Yellow in the foreground really is stunning!
Wonderful painting. You have a great eye for color and value. Everyone of your paintings makes me want to back and paint with oils. I guess I'll leave that to you and just enjoy looking at yours. .
Laurel, I am so impressed that you packed your supplied and actually found a place to stop and paint! I am very good at having good intentions but it's hard to actually set up on the side of the road and paint for me. How long did this take you? It's beautiful and you've inspired me to get outside and paint! thank you for sharing. Oh, I wish you would write more about your plein air painting adventures! Joan
Great composition and your colors are magnificent! So warm!
ReplyDeleteLove it, Laurel. I like the yellows in the foreground and the strong value shifts in the trees.

ReplyDeleteA sounds like a metaphor for life. Lovely painting but how long did you stop to do it and did you reach your destination? r

ReplyDeleteLaurel, I love your darks in the tree, so dramatic! A very simple and very elegant painting.
ReplyDeleteThis is really a nice one Laurel. I like the foreground leading to the tree and the painterly edges.
