International Artist Magazine - 2nd Place Winner!!!
Agapanthus Blossoms, 18 x 18
I am so excited to share this wonderful honor with you all!! This piece won 2nd place in an International Artist Magazine contest and is published in their April/May Issue. The magazine came out this weekend and my painting is on page 6. The article also includes my comments about what inspires me, my design strategy and my overall painting process. This is such a thrill - I am still pinching myself!! :)
PS - If anyone is interested in reading the article but can't get the magazine, let me know and I will email a pdf image of the page. Unfortunately, there is no way to attach it to this blog post.
Congratulations Laurel!!! What a great thrill, it will be interesting to see what happens from this publicity. Lots of good things I suspect. See, it pays to enter.!!!! I love the colors as usual! Now it's time to do some workshops since you're "internationally known!" (I'll be the first to sign up!) Hope your husband is taking you out to celebrate!!
Laurel, congratulations! I literally just opened my magazine, saw the (for me) ho-hum 1st place painting, then turned the page and went, Now THAT is a gorgeous painting. After enjoying it for a while, I looked to see who the artist was... You rock!!!!!
Congratulations Laurel! I do not have my hands on the magazine yet, but I am not at all surprised. This is truly a beautiful piece. Of course the rest of the world will know, as we do already, what a tremendous talent you are! You definitely deserve the recognition. Now your classes will be even more difficult to get into! Yikes!
Congratulations Laurel. What an honor to be in such a great publication and to have beat out so many other artists. Thats a great painting and I will definelty check out the article next time I am at the bookstore.
WOW Laurel, that is so so wonderful! Keep pinching yourself! I can't wait to look for the magazine. You must feel so proud to think of how your dedication and hard work has paid off. So fantastic, CONGRATS!!!
Stunning, exciting - I am bragging about you on Facebook to all my friends in San Fran, NYC, London... Did you know that my sister's nickname for me (one of many) is Agapantha??
The painting is wonderful. What an exciting time. Good for you! In my eyes you are a prize winner with every painting. Super news. I'll go hunting for the magazine now.
Thank you all so much!!! I am just drinking up this wonderful feeling of support and am truly grateful for each of you for taking time to leave a kind word!!!!
I'd be pleased to feature your prize in my 'who's made a mark this week' feature tomorrow on Making A Mark and the fact that you've just joined Daily Paintworks - as my blog has been a long-time supporter of the site.
Can you email me a copy of the pdf file - my contact email can be found in the right hand column on my blog.
I saw the painting in the magazine and thought it was the best of the flower paintings! I wasn't aware that it was your's - congratulations! You deserve it!
Laurel, YEAH!!! Your piece looks great in the magazine and you did a great job on the text too. I am so happy you won! It seems all you see in the magazines these days is realism and it feels good to seem an impressionist win. You definately deserve this!

Great job Laurel. I'm glad to see something painterly win. I sometimes think they have a bias to photo realism.
