Blue Hole

Blue Hole, 12 x 9, oil on panel, L. Daniel © 2014

This weekend, I met up to paint with old friends and new from the Plein Air Austin group. We converged at the Blue Hole… a swimming hole on the San Gabriel River in Georgetown, just north of Austin. It's a great place hang out and stay cool in the hot summer. There are walking trails and picnic tables, and swimming of course, but best of all are the picturesque limestone bluffs that line the river. It's a beautiful spot.

7th and Main

7th and Main, L. Daniel, 9 x 12

Saturday morning a bunch of plein air painters met to paint in the historic square of downtown Georgetown (about 30 miles north of Austin). It was quite a happening place: a beautiful morning with a huge flea market set up just a block away. What a combo! I can't tell you how many times I gave directions, "yep, just another block that way and turn right". One sweet couple came back several times to check on my progress and to give an encouraging word. It was a wonderful, warm small town experience. :)

Gone Paintin'

Window to the Hills, 30 x 30

This is the invitation painting for my upcoming show at the Annarella Gallery, in Georgetown, TX. Twelve paintings will be on display for the month of September. The opening is Friday, September 5th from 6-8pm, and coincides with Georgetown's monthly "First Friday" celebration where all the stores stay open late. It's a wonderfully historic downtown and a lovely, unique gallery. Hope to see you.

I am currently off on a painting trip to Colorado and Montana (along with a few days in California for the wedding of a dear cousin). I will start posting the paintings when I get back on Thursday. Until then, best wishes to all.
