Misty Watering Hole

Misty Watering Hole, 8 x 16, oil on panel, L. Daniel © 2013

Yesterday, Plein Air Austin painted together at a gorgeous ranch outside of Johnson City (the home town of LBJ). The land out there is beautiful, but on this foggy morning, it had a quiet enchantment about it. The muted colors and atmospheric layers were very soulful and inspiring. It was magical.

Great format and composition for this venue, and as always, beautifully painted.

Awesome. I love it. I opened this and felt like I was on holiday from the snow and freezing rain here -- which is beautiful too, unless you're driving in it.

I like that proportion too, and I'm wondering why I paint almost square when I mostly do landscapes... I think I'll be cutting some new boards today!
