Lily Pond

Lily Pond, 12 x 12

I have been "missing in action" for a few days - and felt a bit rusty today! (It doesn't take long!) I just got back from a fabulous weekend at my Wheaton College reunion outside Chicago. It's always great to see dear friends and revisit old stomping grounds. A big highlight for me was meeting with Joel Sheesley, my favorite art professor and incredible painter. Life is good!

Laurel, this is so nice. You captured the best part of the ponds at Mayfield. WIsh I could have been there with you!

Lily Pond has such a graceful composition. Just lovely. I found Sheesley's work extremely interesting. Thanks for the link.

Love your choice of colours in this one Laurel: beautiful and even the water has a heaviness that you would expect in a lily pond

Goodness Laurie, you may be rusty, but I love this one! Of course it reminds me of those gigantic Monet's in Paris.

I love you!

No rust here!

I've only been visiting your blog for a few weeks.
I think this piece is my favorite so far. Beautiful
colors and truly a piece reminiscent of Monet.
You're a fantastic artist and painter.

Wheaton College? You were two miles from my house. Next time, you come for a reunion, let me know. I would love to meet you, Laurel!

No time to paint in Chicago? You were not far from me either. Next time let us know so we can meet to paint.

Rusty? This is gorgeous. I love the colors and easy, lose flow you can always capture in your brush work. Makes it LOOK easy though I know otherwise. Love it.

Thanks all - I had 3-4 wipedowns yesterday morning... so your encouragement is greatly appreciated!

And Chicagoans - I was thinking about all of you and wishing I could scare up a little paintout. It's beautiful there right now and I loved seeing the Redbuds blossoming again. (Ours came out in Feb/March!) Too much to do in too little time. Next time!

No rust in sight! Love the diminishing color in this one.
Okay, we'll all hold you too that Chicago paint-out next time!

Hi Laurel,

This has a super, abstract impressionist feel, I can imagine the
heat, and being right there.
