Blankets of Color

Blankets of Color, 12 x 16, L. Daniel
.
Today was one of those perfect spring days that is irresistible to a plein air painter. It was warm (but not hot), sunny and bright. After about a week of overcast drizzle, it was a welcomed change. I have been eying this field of riotous color for awhile, waiting for just such a day... total joy!

Love the color, Laurel. A sunny day just brings the wildflower color to a peak, and you nailed it here.

Wow, love the colors and the tree of course, but particularly love the way you so effectively make the foreground pop and the eye travels past all the many layers of hills and fades to the sky!

Beautiful, gorgeous, well balanced...a perfect "10". When I look at the painting, I am there, and I can feel the gentle breeze blowing.

Very nice. Caught my eye as it reminds me of a painting I did this weekend which was innspired by an early California painter.
